Eminox announces emissions technology partnership

Retrofit technology specialist Eminox has partnered with Danish firm Amminex Emissions Technology, to offer the company’s Ammonia Storage & Delivery System (ASDS) in the UK.

Eminox will distribute the ASDS in the UK and Ireland, which it is offering as an alternative to an AdBlue dosing system.

Selective catalytic reduction technology is fitted to vehicles to reduce NOx emissions

AdBlue is a fluid used in selective catalytic reduction systems in diesel vehicles to reduce NOx emissions, as it turns to ammonia and carbon dioxide at high temperatures, helping to convert NOx into hydrogen and water.

According to the two companies Amminex ASDS is designed to work at lower engine temperatures than an AdBlue based system, releasing gaseous, rather than liquid based ammonia into the system.

This has extended the operating range of Eminox SCRT technology to cover a wider variety of vehicles and duty cycles, Eminox claims.

Eminox’s SCRT system with ASDS has already delivered NOx reduction in several projects, including the retrofit of 300 buses in Copenhagen to Euro VI equivalent.

The agreement means that Amminex will take over the handling of Eminox customers in Scandinavia.

The Eminox teams have already been working closely with Amminex on joint projects in Scandinavia, the company said, and will continue to work in collaboration on any “additional development required to meet specific vehicle types or customer needs”.
