EarthSense to mass-produce Zephyr air quality monitor

Air quality monitoring and data specialist EarthSense has announced that its Zephyr air quality monitor will go into mass production.

The Zephyr is a multi-sensor platform which offers readings of pollutants such as Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Ozone (O3), from a range of pollution sources as well as temperature and humidity.

The portable unit can be mounted onto a wall or lamp-post and can be fitted with a solar panel to offer an improved power supply and features a replaceable cartridge system for easy replacement.

The Zephyr also has additional options for measuring Particulate Matter (PM), Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Carbon Monoxide (CO), and Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S).

Marking a ‘significant production milestone’ for the company, mass manufacture of the Zephyr with Contract Electronic Manufacturers (CEM) will allow the completion of a larger volume of sensors at a quicker turnaround, EarthSense says.

Production

Volume production of the Zephyr will offer customers such as local councils, corporate and research bodies, car manufacturers, planning and policy makers the ability to integrate reliable air quality data into their projects seamlessly and effectively, according to the Leicester-based company.

The company’s managing director Tom Hall, said: “We are committed to broadening the accessibility of our products and services, now is the time for EarthSense to deliver mass deployment of the Zephyr sensor as well as keeping a focus on providing quality data going forward.

“We are working with a fantastic team of suppliers who fit seamlessly with the culture of our business and clean air ethos.”
